Default Capelllo in becks hint

England head coach Fabio Capello has hinted David Beckham may win his 100th cap against France next month, even if he has not played a competitive game for LA Galaxy.

The former Three Lions captain was a notable absentee from England's first squad to face Switzerland earlier this month.

Many felt Beckham should have featured and made it a century of appearances, although Capello believed the 32-year-old was not fit or sharp enough to contribute.

However, Capello has now hinted Beckham could be involved when England clash with France in a friendly at the Stade de France next month, even though the MLS season does not start until three days after the game.

"Surely he will have played friendly matches and those will be important. If he is fit and ready to play then he will be part of my team," said the Italian.

However, the former Real Madrid added fans should look at the long-term goal and not individual honours: "It seems that the most important thing is whether I choose David Beckham. I think we should focus on England."

Capello may well accommodate Beckham on the right-hand side of midfield with the Italian tactician being impressed with David Bentley's ability to play through the middle.

"I had seen Bentley play on the right and I wanted to see him in the middle. I want to be clear where players perform best.

"I believe Bentley did very well but in the second half he was particularly good."
