Default Sven wants sound of silence

Sven Goran Eriksson has urged Manchester City supporters to respect Sunday's one-minute silence at Old Trafford.

Manchester United have spent the past week paying tribute to those who lost their lives in the Munich air disaster, and the derby game with City at the weekend will represent the climax of the commemorations.

However, there are lingering concerns that City fans could disrupt the planned silence before the Old Trafford contest and numerous figureheads from both clubs have pleaded for their co-operation.

Eriksson is the latest to add his voice to the appeals and hopes that the potential actions of a minority will not tarnish the reputation of the club.

Respect

"Football is one thing but when people die too early in an extremely bad accident, you have to respect that.," said the City boss.

"It doesn't matter if you are wearing a blue shirt or a red shirt or whatever.

"It has nothing to do with football. We have to respect those who were doing the same job as we are doing today.

"It's sad and it should be respected. Don't be a fan for that minute. After that, normal service.

Well said!

"I really hope our reputation is still very good after the match."
