Default Chilean Round Up

Universidad de Chile defeated Cobresal 1-0, but still trail Union Espanola, who remain in top position of the Chilean standings after beating Universidad Catolica 2-1. While Colo Colo lost 1-0 against Palestino.

Universidad de Chile edged Cobresal 1-0 in the third round of the Chilean Apertura championship, after playing a very clever match in which they put away one of their only goal scoring opportunities.

Manuel Villalobos scored the only goal of the match in the 20th minute of the first half, after connecting to a Raul Estevez cross with a powerful header.

Chilean Clausura champions Colo Colo, lost for the first time this season, 1-0 against Palestino. The only goal of the match was scored by former Colo Colo player Juan Pablo Ubeda in the 24th minute.

Union Espanola defeated Universidad Catolica 2-1 to remain undefeated this season, and to move up to the top position of the league standings.

Mario Caceres put Union ahead in the 28th minute, but Catolica equalised in the 41st minute, when Hector Tapia converted a spot-kick.

But Isaias Peralta scored Union's winner in the 82nd minute, with an outstanding free kick.

While Rangers of Talca won their first three points of the season, after edging Deportes Antofagasta 1-0 with a goal from Cristian Gomez in the 68th minute.

Everton also won their first match of the season, getting past Universidad of Concepcion 3-1 with goals from Dario Gigena (38'), Juan Luis Gonzalez (47'), and Angel Rojas (76'). While Gabriel Vargas scored Concepcion's only goal in the 44th minute.
