Just read this ...........
............ on ITV.
Quote:
Arsene Wenger is reportedly Barcelona's first-choice candidate to replace Frank Rijkaard at the Camp Nou.
Barca president Joan Laporta and vice president Ferran Soriano are reported to hold Wenger in high esteem and Spanish reports suggest the chiefs are lining up a bid for the Frenchman should Rijkaard be released in the summer.
The Dutch mentor has come under scrutiny for what has been a rather disappointing season thus far for the Catalan club.
The former champions of Europe lie 8 points adrift of Real Madrid in La Liga and if Rijkaard doesn't deliver the title, he is expected to be sacked.
Marco van Basten and Jose Mourinho are also touted as possible successors to the former Netherlands boss, but the upper echelons of the Spanish giants believe the Arsenal manager would be the perfect replacement.
Wenger committed to a new three-year deal with the Gunners last September and the Emirates outfit will resist an offers for the 58-year-old's services.
