Default Davis hopes to be back soon

MARK Davies today lifted the lid on his latest bout of injury frustration and expressed the hope he will soon be challenging for a Wolves return.

The highly-rated midfielder is back training with fitness coach Tony Daley having recovered from a torn shoulder muscle, the latest in a string of frustrating problems to have hindered his development.

Davies hasn't started a game for Wolves since April, 2006, with a knee injury and glandular fever restricting him to 10 appearances as substitute last season.

He had played himself back into form with a couple of goals for the reserves only to suffer the latest setback in a second string game with Walsall just before Christmas.

"The shoulder injury came in the reserve game at Walsall but we’re not too sure how it happened," he said.

"The specialist said it’s something I could have had even from when I was born and it could have just reacted.

"I had a scan and found out I had a tear in it but it’s healed now.

"I had got back from my other problem so obviously it was very frustrating.

"I’ve had too many things that have happened but hopefully now I can look ahead to being injury free and back playing.

"It’s been difficult and so many ups-and-downs in terms of trying to come back but everyone here has helped me through it."

Davies is not setting too many targets, but hopes a trouble-free return to full training will lead to reserve team action ahead of joining the congested battle for a place in Wolves' midfield.

"I want to play as soon as I can but we’ll just have to see," he said.

"I can still remember the good times when I broke through and was in the team and that’s what makes me want to get back, to try and achieve that again.

"It would be nice if the fans are wanting to see me play again, I just want to get back for me and everyone.

"It would be nice to think I could be fit in a couple of weeks time after a few reserve team games and would be available if needed.

"But I know it’s going to be tough to get back in because we’ve got some good players now."
