Wayne Hennessey has been passed fit to extend his 100 per cent Championship record for the season when Wolves visit Colchester tomorrow.

The outstanding Welsh international suffered mild concussion in the dying minutes of last Saturday's victory at Crystal Palace and was nursed through training earlier this week.

But manager Mick McCarthy had no hesitation today in naming the keeper in his side to play at Layer Road - an announcement that was music to the young keeper's ears.

"I've never had a head injury before, so it wasn't a very pleasant experience," Wayne said. "But I don't intend missing any games because of it

"My head was pounding when I had Sunday and Monday off but I was ready to work by the middle of the week and had a really good session with Bobby (Mimms) yesterday. We covered everything, including crosses and kicking, and I had no problems at all.

"Colchester might be surprised to see me playing because I think it was on Sky that I was likely to be out. I never really worried about missing the game, though, and I feel fully fit and ready to crack on."

Wayne was clattered shortly before Kevin Kyle hit Wolves' killer second goal at Selhurst Park six days ago, resuming briefly to miscue a free-kick before going down again in a heap.

It's the second time this season he has had to be replaced during a game by Graham Stack but, as in the home game against Coventry in early October, he has recovered for the next Championship assignment.

And, as he prepares for Wolves' fourth successive away match, he is able to reflect on the buffeting he received.

"I've now seen the incident again on TV and realise I was caught in the face by Mark Hudson's arm and side as we both went for the ball," he added.

"I was very dazed and can't remember anything from leaving the pitch to getting to the hospital in Croydon.

"Tomorrow is another massive game and the important thing is to get another win, hopefully with another clean sheet. We need to kick up a gear now because there's not long left. The fans can play their part again tomorrow. They have been tremendous in this run of away games."

Wayne, along with Andy Keogh and Michael Kightly, are shortlisted for Sunday's Football League awards in the Championship Young Player of 2007 category.
