Default Kempson secures Stanley loan move

Accrington Stanley have signed Shrewsbury Town defender Darren Kempson on a month's loan.
Manager John Coleman turned his attention to the 23-year-old after a move for Charlton's Paulo Monteiro fell through.

"He's done particularly well over the last few years," Coleman told BBC Radio Lancashire.

"Even though he is young, he has got a lot of experience because he's played a lot of games."

Kempson is no stranger to Stanley, having made nine appearances for the club whilst on work experience from his first club Preston North End in 2004.

He had spells with Morecambe, Crewe and Bury before making the move to Shrewsbury last summer.

Coleman admitted was disappointed the deal for Monteiro failed to materialise after the player failed to get international clearance.

"It's one of those things you have to deal with in football," said Coleman. "It's not Charlton's fault or our fault. It's just an administration glitch with the Romanian FA (where Monteiro played previously) and we have to accept that and move on."

Monteiro's team-mate Aswad Thomas has extended his loan spell from Charlton by a further month.

The 18-year-old defender has impressed in his stay at the Fraser Eagle Stadium so far.

"Aswad has got a great attitude and he's my type of footballer really," added Coleman.

"We've got seven games to play ( in March) and I think that will be very pivotal it determining what league we are playing on next season."
