Default wolves internationals

Molineux trio David Edwards, Freddy Eastwood and Wayne Hennessey all played significant parts in Wales' 3-0 victory over Norway at Wrexham last night.

The Wales squad were staying at Carden Park Hotel near Chester, which is owned by Wolves' chairman. Steve Morgan. Before they left for the Racecourse Ground, Steve popped in to wish the boys all the best.

Wayne kept a clean sheet in the opening 45 minutes before he was replaced at the interval by Lewis Price, whilst David came on at the start of the second half.

The midfielder almost celebrated his introduction with a goal but Norwegian keeper Hakon Opdal pushed his shot onto a post and the ball was cleared.

But David had the last laugh when he selflessly teed up Jason Koumas for a third Welsh goal in the final minute.

Earlier in the game Freddy was also a provider when his defence splitting pass opened up the way for Crystal Palace's Carl Fletcher to notch his first international goal.

Steve Morgan said: "It was great to have Wales staying at Carden Park and particularly pleasing to see the three Wolves lads there.

"All three played excellently with Freddy's brilliant through ball making the first goal and Dave's great play creating the third. Along with that, Wayne kept another clean sheet."

Hamish Ferguson, General Manager of Carden Park Hotel, added: "We have welcomed a wide range of national teams including England at full and under 21 levels, and also the likes of Liverpool, Real Madrid, Manchester United and AC Milan.

"Carden has a full size football pitch of a Premiership standard and dining facilities with access to the bedrooms so privacy is assured. The Hotel often accommodates chefs who travel along with the respective teams."

Also on Wednesday evening, Darren Potter came on at half-time as the Republic of Ireland lost 1-0 to Brazil in Dublin. Kevin Foley was an unused substitute."

Meanwhile, Andy Keogh played for the 90 minutes of the Republic's 3-0 defeat against England under 21s on Tuesday evening.
