The bad news continues to roll in for San Lorenzo coach Ramón DÃaz as he has now learnt that Andrés D'Alessandro will miss at least their next two Clausura games due to the injury he picked up in the loss to River Plate on Sunday.
D'Alessandro was forced to leave the field after just twenty-two minutes against his former club on Sunday having pulled a muscle in his left-leg.
He was given a good reception by the River Plate fans, but the traveling San Lorenzo support seemed suspicious of the reasons for his withdrawal, with sections heard to boo the playmaker as he may his way off the pitch.
D'Alessandro himself was in no doubt that he had to leave the pitch and was unable to continue.
"I was running with Ferrari and I felt a pull. At that moment it was not much, but immediately I realised that it would get worse. There was no chance of continuing," he told Olé.
Medical tests yesterday confirmed that he had suffered a 2mm tear and that he would be out of action for at least two weeks.
Such a period of absence would see him miss San Lorenzo's next two Clausura games against Estudiantes and Racing and could make him doubtful for their next Copa Liberadores match, away to Real Potosi on the 11th March.
With the club having suffered a poor start to 2008, D'Alessandro is just hoping that they can get their first win of the campaign in his absence.
"I just want to recover and for the team to start winning. Hopefully they will against Estudiantes because a victory changes the spirit of the club and of the supporters, who with reason will request results. We trust in our ability, we just need a kick start," he concluded.
