Wenger accepts title defeat

Arsene Wenger admits that Arsenal's title aspirations have ended following defeat at Old Trafford.

The Gunners boss saw his side beaten 2-1 by Manchester United on Sunday to leave them nine points adrift of the Red Devils with only four games remaining.

"Yes we are out (of the title race) of course," he told Sky Sports.

"I think we played with quality and spirit today and I am very proud of our performance, but what can you do?

"I think we got the message in March, we are not stupid, we understood it and we have to accept it.

"I feel that we had plenty of chances are were really unlucky not to win this game today.

"I just feel that in the last two months we have not been very lucky and we have seen that again today.

"It's difficult to find an obvious reason for our problems when you watch the game today, but the quality of performance we produced it is difficult to blame anybody."

Really is a shame. I would have liked to see Arsenal win the league (not as much so as Chelsea like) but after a great start they just seemed to lose focus a bit. They have a great young team and i have no doubt at all that they will be back twice as strongly next year!

Well done Arsenal you have done well for a young team and pushed Man united almost til the end.

Now come on Chelsea we can't have Man U winning it again.

Aye, so bizarre. Begnning of the season they could score goals for fun, then they just seemed to lose the ability.

They do a lot of build up play though, and when you have a strong defense like Man Utd did today, you just don't have enough room to mess about like that. Think that's certainly one if the problems that they had today.

Adebyore seems to be going through a bad spell too today. Doesn't really help does it.

we have to buy players in te summer, like loads of players, our squad is too small, and thats in both senses, we dont have any commanding figuers at the back or in midfield, we have no one who takes charge, and we really have to spend big in the summer otherwise we're going to fall behind again!

Wenger isn't daft he will know what you need. Plus you have had a couple of unlucky injuries to key players like RVP.

yeh but we had the chance to strengthen in january and we bought no one!!!

Yes but look where you were in the league in January. It didn't really look as though you were going to need to strengthen.
