Are Villa 'cooling' a little on Carson?

Liverpool goalkeeper Scott Carson, who is currently on loan at Aston Villa, wants to sort out his long-term future for the sake of his family.

Carson has three years left of his Anfield contract and is keen to commit himself to one club after previously having loan spells with Sheffield Wednesday and Charlton.

The 22-year-old is enjoying his season-long loan spell at Villa Park and has helped them maintain their push for a European spot, helped by Sunday's 2-1 win at Reading.

But Carson has no definite idea as to whether manager Martin O'Neill is keen to make the move permanent in the summer - or before then if all parties could reach an agreement.

He said: "I'd like to know what is happening because I've got my girlfriend and my son to think about. My son turned two last week and he's started going to nursery school so we need to get settled.

"I've still got a contract with Liverpool and until someone does a deal with them, I can't do anything.

"It's not a done deal (with Liverpool). Villa paid a loan fee for me until the end of the season and anytime from now until then, they could make it permanent."

Carson added: "I can't really say where I'd like to be because I'm still under contract at Liverpool and I don't know what is going to happen there.

"I like it at Villa and I want to get settled for next season.

"There's not a lot I can do. I've got three years left at Liverpool and I don't know what Aston Villa are thinking.

"I don't know if there is anything else in the pipe-line. We will have to wait and see."

You'd think at this stage they'd have let the bloke know whether they were going to make his mover permanent or whether he was heading back to Anfield?

i thought they said ages ago they wanted him to sign permanently, have they changed there minds? Imo he would be decent signing for villa and he's doing well there

To be honest i think MON is having doubts about him - and to be honest so am i

It may sound harsh but he lad can't save long-range shots - he panics and spills far to many from long-range for me

Ever since the night against Croatia where he was beat from long-range all night Premiership managers have seen his weakness - and obviously told there players to shoot from distance - the game after England was against Pompey where he was beat by 2 shots from miles out from Muntari - plus a few others from other teams

He gets his positioning all wrong - but from point blank he is fantastic - lets him down alot - makes me wonder if MON is thinking the same thing

The freekick from Shorey at the end of Sunday's game he should of saved that from that distance IMO with ease

I still feel Thomas Sorrenson is a better all round keeper mainly from experience - is comfy from shots from distance and can save point blank - just tends to make the odd mistake but name me a keeper who dosn't?

Anything is better than that waste of space Schmeichel we had for a season - what a twat lol

I beg to differ there really Josh - Liverpool and keepers don't mix IMO - the way they are treated by them is a disgrace - the likes of the Kirklands and the Carsons were signed just so other sides couldn't sign them - rotting in the reserves and then loaned out and sold - surprised Reina hasn't been sold yet - IMO the best keeper they had was Friedel they should of never sold him - Apexhaed lasted 5 mins there along with Dudek

Lol good post mate. Obviously you see him more then me so ill base it on your comments as i only see him when villa are on tv. Agree though he should of saved that freekick. Again agree about Sorenson cant beleive he's been dropped and why? i rate him as a good keeper and if you dont want him we will have him lol

Well Stuart Taylor seems to be favoured as the number 2 behind Carson

Mainly because Tommy through his toys out the pram when MON signed Carson demanding he started as number one still - MON told him he would decide that and not Tommy - fair enough

He then decided to turn up for training late a few times and was fined - so hasn't helped himself really Kate - he has had chance to leave to go to Spain but isn't willing to take a drop in wages to play first team football - so again he isn't helping himself

I think Carson is a quality keeper. If Villa can kep him that would be fantstic for them. TBH i think hes better than Reina.

I dint know this and fair play to villa for fining him his attitude is all wrong. If he's not prepared to take a pay cut then he should try and win his villa spot back instead of moaning about it
