São Paulo have added another forward to their squad by signing Éder LuÃs from Atlético Mineiro on loan until the end of the year.
The Tricolor Paulista had already added players such as Adriano and Carlos Alberto to their squad in the off-season, but felt a need to add another forward to the squad after a couple of weeks of the campaign.
Éder LuÃs was the player they successfully targeted and he was paraded with the number 9 shirt of the club at a press conference yesterday afternoon.
The negotiations between São Paulo and Atlético Mineiro were slightly drawn out and Luis was pleased that they had finally been completed.
"The negotiations took a long time. I was starting to get a little worn out by it. The important thing is that Atlético considered my needs. The deal was good for me and for them," he told the gathered press.
Corinthians and Palmeiras had also been interested in securing Luis' signature, but the twenty-two year old indicated that there was only one place he wanted to go once São Paulo stepped into the picture.
"The other deals were not right. In comparison, São Paulo wanted me to come and play in the Liberatdores."
With a move to a bigger club secured, Luis hopes to break his way into the Brazil U-23 squad that will dispute Olympic Gold in Beijing later his year.
"This is the chance of a lifetime. I have the dream to reach the Olympic selection; I am of the right age."
The deal between the clubs is thought to include a clause that would see Luis released if Atlético Mineiro receives an offer from Europe for his services, but the young striker would rather concentrate on the present.
"I do not think about that at this time. I just want to work hard for my new club," he concluded.
