The January transfer window may have closed, but Charlton boosted their defensive options with the capture of Portuguese centre-half Paulo Monteiro on Friday.
The defender, who has played alongside Addicks midfielder Jose Semedo for Portugal's U21 side, was a free agent having been released by Romanian outfit Farul Constanta.
The 23-year-old played for Charlton's reserves against Crystal Palace on January 23rd, helping the Addicks to keep a clean sheet at Bromley FC's Hayes Lane, and has signed a contract until the end of the season.
"I am very pleased to sign for such a big club, a great club,†said the six-foot-three defender.
