Blackburn boss Mark Hughes is on Manchester City's wanted list as he remains a front-runner for the Chelsea manager's job.
The Stamford Bridge vacancy is now a straight fight between AC Milan boss Carlo Ancelotti and Hughes - according to one Sunday tabloid while another puts him at the top of City owner Thaksin Shinawatra's targets.
Roman Abramovich been refused permission to talk to Ancelotti by the Italian club after he made an official approach - which could put Blackburn next in the firing line.
Abramovich will not be put off by AC's reluctance to let his chief executive Peter Kenyon talk to Ancelotti but the Rovers chief is Kenyon's preferred candidate anyway.
The ex-Man Utd supremo has been impressed by the way Hughes has transformed Blackburn and knows he would be hugely respected by the Londoners' dressing room - as an ex-player and self-confessed Chelsea fan.
