I think if clubs are realistic, as Derby were/are, and find themselves promoted 'too early', without the players and infrastructure in place to make a real fight of a promotion, then they can use the experience to better position themselves for another crack at the Championship the following season, perhaps giving vital experience to one or two younger players.
I can see someone like Derby being a 'yoyo' club for a few seasons until they find their level, either just above the relegation zone in the Premiership or a regular play-off place in the Championship. With Paul Jewell in place and already planning for next season I'm going to stick my neck out and say I fancy them to come back up, as Champions at the end of next season.
