Argentine Apertura Champions Lanus will be unable to count with the services of both Matias Fritzler and Cristian Velazquez when they meet Danubio of Uruguay in their Copa Libertadores Group 2 opener on Thursday.
Lanus team doctor Donato Villani told Telam that both Velazquez and Fritzler will be out of the Danubio clash on Thursday because of muscle strains, after undergoing tests on Monday.
Villani also confirmed that Diego Gonzalez will also miss the match due to injury, but still it was unlikely that the highly-rated midfielder would have formed part of their starting eleven.
Ramon Cabrero will make two changes to the side that thrashed Olmedo of Ecuador 3-0 in the Copa Libertadores first round second leg play off in Buenos Aires last week.
Velazquez and Fritzler will be replaced by Nelson Benitez and Sebastian Salomon, two players who have shown enormous potential in recent outings.
Lanus will need to be at their best to defeat a very difficult Danubio side, who did well in their tour of Argentina last month.
On Sunday the Argentine champions edged Independiente 1-0 in their opening match of the '08 Clausura Championship.
