Cruzeiro of Brazil cruised to an emphatic 3-0 victory over Real Potosi of Bolivia, in both team's Copa Libertadores group opener, that was played in Belo Horizonte.
Cruzeiro, who have won the Copa Libertadores twice before, dominated proceedings in front of more than 50,000 fans that packed their stadium.
They created several goal scoring opportunities to take the lead, but failed to capitalise. But the way the match was going it just seemed a matter of time before they would break the deadlock.
Three clear chances fell to Cruzeiro's highy-rated Bolivian striker Marcelo Moreno, but the 19 year old, was off touch.
Moreno had to wait until the first minute of the second half to put Cruzeiro in the lead, when he connected to a Wagner cross with a well-timed header.
From then on it was all one-way traffic, as the Brazilians piled heavy pressure on the Potosi goal, that soaked a large amount of pressure, until Cruzeiro went two goals up.
Talented midfielder Ramires found the back of the net in the 52nd minute, after finding space in the Potosi area.
In the 67th minute Guilherme sealed Cruzeiro a comfortable 3-0 victory, with a well taken goal, that left Potosi goalkeeper Hugo Suarez with no chance.
In the final moments of the match Moreno could have scored Cruzeiro's fourth but his acrobatic bicycle kick flashed inches wide of the right post.
