Atlas of Mexico kicked off their Copa Libertadores campaign with an impressive 3-0 victory over Chilean champions Colo Colo in Guadalajara.
Atlas completely dominated the Chileans, and although they scored three goals it could have been five or six, as they created several clear goal scoring opportunities.
Inside the first five minutes they created a number of opportunities, and finally went ahead through former Boca Juniors striker Bruno Marioni, who took advantage of a lapse of concentration in the Colo Colo defense.
Colo Colo came more into the match after going behind, and although they created lots of chances, their strikers were in very poor form.
Gonzalo Fierro should have put them level, but the midfielder wasted a clear-cut opportunity, that would end up being one of his team's last.
In the 40th minute Diego Colotto doubled Atlas' lead when he connected to a cross with a powerful header.
After the break it was all one way traffic, as the Mexicans completely dominated the extremely disappointing Chileans.
Atlas added their third in the 67th minute with a sensational solo effort from man-of-the-match Juan Medina, who beat a number of defenders before fooling Colo Colo goalkeeper Cristian Munoz, with a clever finish.
They could have added a fourth late on in the match, but were stopped by the crossbar, after a powerful header from a cross.
