Cruzeiro coach AdÃlson believes his team could have taken all three points from their 0-0 draw away to San Lorenzo on Thursday in their second Copa Libertadores group stage match.
Cruzeiro came into the game having comfortably beaten Real Potosi of Bolivia in their opening group match and looking to continue their 100% record in all competitions in 2008.
San Lorenzo put them under a lot of pressure in the first half, but Cruzeiro came back into the game after the break and AdÃlson feels that their second half performance would have warranted them taking the three points.
"In the second half we controlled the game more and because of our performance in the second half we deserved a better result," he told Placar.
"We created some good chances to score on the counter-attack and a win would have been valid based on the spirit and determination of the team."
Despite his feeling that they could have got a better result from the match, AdÃlson still believes that a draw away to San Lorenzo is a good result and he is looking forward to playing them in Brazil in the return game later in the group stage.
"At this stage it is important to add points. San Lorenzo are an adversary who are considered capable of winning the competition and we took a point against them. The objective now is to win in the home game," he concluded.
