Geordies are the gloomiest people in the country, a survey claimed today.
Newcastle is the unhappiest city in the UK, according to the study by cake manufacturer Mr Kipling.

It claimed that nearly half the people in the city were unhappy about their financial situation, a third were demoralised by work, and a quarter were dissatisfied with their social lives.

The survey said the happiest places were Bristol, Wolverhampton and York.
