Yes, dark days may lie ahead. Our 'Transfer Out' every season always make me want to cry, and our 'Transfer In' are always too few.

However, we may just have a saviour - Enoch Showunmi

Only an emergency loan until March 1st, he's a fast pacy striker whom has not yet shown his true potential, but glimpses of his skill show him to be a good finisher. And of course, he continues Wednesday's legacy of find oddly-named players, and turning them into household names! IE Shefki Kuqi, Guylain Ndumbu-Nsungu, Gilles De Bilde, Madjid Bougherra, to name but a few!

Today's Team News

Courtesy of BBC.CO.UK

Loan signings Enoch Showunmi and Graham Kavanagh go straight into the Sheffield Wednesday squad to face Ipswich.

Steve Watson (hamstring) is sidelined and winger Etienne Esajas has a foot injury, but defender Tommy Spurr can play ahead of a suspension next week.

Midfielders David Norris and Velice Sumulikoski plus keeper Stephen Bywater could all make their Ipswich debuts.

Nick Colgan will act as cover for Bywater after signing a short-term deal but Luis Castro is suspended.

Sheffield Wednesday will hope for a repeat performance of their recent Steel City derby win when they face Ipswich on Saturday.

Wednesday boss Brain Laws guided his side to three points against local rivals Sheffield United two weeks ago, but since that time he has seen his team suffer defeat to Wolves.

And Laws will be keen for a return to the form that secured a 2-0 win against the Blades when Ipswich travel to Hillsborough.

Loan signings Enoch Showunmi and Graham Kavanagh are expected to be named in Laws' squad, but Steve Watson is out of action with a hamstring problem and Etienne Esajas (foot) is also absent.

Ipswich are expected to hand David Norris, Velice Sumulikoski and Stephen Bywater their debuts, but Luis Castro is banned.

Ladbrokes.com match odds: Sheff Wed 5/4 Draw 11/5 Ipswich 7/4

It's only been deemed an "Emergency loan" transfer, so the loan end date of March 1st is the maximum we were allowed. Perhaps we can secure him either on a longer loan deal later, or even permanent, should he impress enough.

Thanks for that naylinski lets hope we can get another one or two in soon, people are talking about Earnsaw, McSheffrey and even Healey but im not too sure cos gossip dosent cost anything but even loan players need to be paid. We can still get out of this mess but something on all levels needs to be done urgently.

i thought when you played us at Molineux last Tuesday you did alright and could of got a draw and at 1-1 you could of won it when your player rounded Hennessey but fell over. I reckon you'll be alright as long as you show fight and team spirit

Default All change at Wednesday?

Will Wednesday become the next club to fall into the hands of foreign ownership? An "international consortium" i.e. rich foreigners with no ties to Sheffield or the club!
Quote:
Former Sheffield Wednesday chairman Dave Allen has told BBC Radio Sheffield he is ready to sell his shares in the club, and bring a takeover closer.
Allen holds a stake of almost 11% and said he will sell on condition that fans group Wednesdayite, who own 10%, also sell their stake.

BBC Radio Sheffield understands a verbal deal has been agreed with businessman Geoff Sheard.

Sheard is the front man for a London-based international consortium.

Lawyers are believed to be putting the finishing touches to the deal before making a full written offer.

Sheard and Wednesday themselves have so far declined to comment but Wednesdayite have revealed that they have already entered discussions with the group and are awaiting a formal offer for their shares, which should arrive this week.

They will then have to ballot their members and vote on a change of rules to allow their stake to be sold.

Meanwhile, the mystery investors who attended Saturday's game against Cardiff are ready to pump millions of pounds into the playing staff, wipe out the club's debt and could even appoint a new manager.

Negotiations have been taking place for several months but it is thought that it could now be a matter of days before the club is under new ownership.
