Thumbs down Robbie Savage, nice guy?

Quote:
Derby County captain Robbie Savage has made a four-figure donation to charity because his recent performances have not been up to scratch.

The former Wales midfielder paid the money to midlands-based charity When You Wish Upon A Star which helps terminally-ill children fulfil long-held ambitions.

A source close to the player said: "Robbie feels he wants to give something back to the community. It was very much his choice."
Philanthropic Robbie Savage! He's obviously just looking for some positive press as he's been sh1te recently and is hoping that this apparent show of compassion will either keep the fans of his back or stop them getting on it! "a four-figure" gesture could be £1,000 which is nothing to a 'Big Time Charlie' like Lilly. w***er!

I'm 51 and have only been on board with this sport for about 5 years, and the EPL et al for about 3. I preface my comments such so folks realize, I really don't know squat about the game, except that I love it. Okay I know a little more, I do coach recreation leagues for young kids and I'm licensed. But - there are plenty of people licensed to drive who shouldn't be so for whatever it's worth. However, we win and we win our tournaments so the kids are experienceing success and learning the game.

All of that said.... Robbie Savage. The aforementioned match was the first I'd seen him. My early impression was he looks like a gangly american MLS player! The guy is all elbows and a funky run, and plays a bit rough... if not dirty. His foot comes much too high too many times.

Yet, by the end of the match I had grown to respect him. No, he's not a smooth technician like Ronaldo or Scholes, but his passing is crisp and his headers snap and he's definitely not afraid to dig for the ball.

Chopper this is in no way meant to refute your comments. I'm only commenting because of all the players I've watched, he looks the most unorthodox.

Robbie Savage has always been a tough tackler and on his day can be the differance between 3pts and 0pts,but if you think he's unorthadox with his style, then you need to watch Peter Crouch of Liverpool as for a lanky forward he has an unorthadox ability of ball control for a lanky player compared to your usual lanky players.
Another player that had a very wayward but effective style of playing was Aspinal [excuse my spelling of surname] who use too play for Newcastle.

Tino!, Tino!, Tino! Asprilla is the name you were looking for, didn't have a clue what he was going to do so neither did the defender marking him! Seriously 'strange' bloke, nude model, connected to the Columbian drugs cartels but one hell of a player with Parma and latterly Newcastle.

But Robbie Savage is still a Wayne Kerr!

hes the one Chopper totally agree he was so undecided that he became the most awkward player ever to mark, and to come to that he was also the biggest headache for team-mates who through his undecidment on the ball, didnt know where to be to receive the ball IF he ever passed it..

He reminded me of Ted 'Tin Man' McMinn who, the last I heard, was coaching at Derby after losing a leg [the right] in 2006 after he contracted a mystery infection.

Yeah Crouch is another one, although last season I saw him do a fantastic parallel bicycle kick for a goal.

I don't know what to call the bicycle kick performed parallel to the ground so I called it a parallel bicycle kick.

Another term that could be used i guess is the scissor kick as its of the simler motion to that of a bicycle kick..

In true English fashion, Lions graces me with diplomacy whilst reminding me that it's a scissors kick. In true Yankee fashion my reply has to be... DOH!

Thanks Lions.
