LMFAO that made me roar

IMO it dosnt matter how fit or what age the player is - it's all about mental strength in the road to recovery

I agree. Motivation to recover does play a huge part. Ronaldo has no reason to recover fully - he has had a relatively long and successful career to date and would easily find employment in another football related field should he wish to do so.

Eduardo on the other hand has had a short career. He was just starting to find the peak of his form and will want to recover fully to continue where he left off for what could potentially be another 10 or more years.

Default It's in the head!

The bodies may well heal but will either be able to come back mentally? Ronaldo know's what it takes but will he be willing to go through the recovery process yet again with the thought of the possibility of something happening once again? With his money and reputation why bother? That's what he might be thinking, that's what might make him decide to retire.

As for Eduardo, he's 25 now and would still have a number of years ahead of him after, say, a year's recovery. He'll get the very best medical and psychological assistance and I'm more confident that he'll come back from this setback. Will he be the same player agian? I doubt it but he may well be a 'different' Eduardo, probably a thicker set version, probably less mobile, maybe half a yard slower but much stronger and perhaps even better equiped to handle the Premier League.

Yeh xmas is next season!
Even though I fear it might be longer than that, it's more the psychological trauma the poor lad will face more than anything.

I still think David Busst's injury against man utd in 1996 is still the worst injury and leg break ever in football.
He needed 35+ operations and still couldn't ever play again.
I can still remember Peter Schmeichel's reaction runninng away and covering his face.
Horrific stuff!

I agree Peter. That was just unbelivable. I shudder everytime i see it. Think he was at a serious risk of having his leg amputated.
