Don't matter who the captain is England stilling going to loose especially when the over rated prat is back in the team. Let Beckham play for 1 min give him his 100th cap and tell him to
off. |

well that was interesting....NOT! I hope those who think that England's problems are the manager's fault will re-think their views after last night!!! One of the commentators said it last night that there were some of the french team who 'were sharper' because they played their first team football in the Prem......when was the last time Peter Crouch started a game for Liverpool?? I think Capello made the team his own last night by naming Rio captain and sent out a message to the players and the fans that he is his own man and you have to earn your place in the squad.....not that I think he has an awful lot of choice when Crouch gets in the side without playing a game....I hope he carries on making choices on merit which might make a few of the players who think they are IT sit up and take notice!!!!!

I never saw it on sky,i watched extended highlights and i must say it wasnt much to shout home about going by them highlights.
Some comments by T-Babe are spot on,but tbh......now the hype of Becks 100 not out cap count is done with our future friendlies leading upto our world cup qualifiers, should solely be used for searching for the more younger, and zestful England squad that can cement a solid team understanding that will be around for more than two years unlike our present squad of players. It needs to be a talented younger squad which will even if they dont go far in the world cup 2010,will improve every new game and hopefullly be fully gelled and experianced by the next Euros to have a great chance of success and one that will still be together and take their Euro success into the 2014 world cup.. |

Where you reckon the new talent going to come from lions? I watched the U21's in action and there weren't much cop either tbh. Fraizer Campbell looked like he had never seen a football before in his life...yet for the Tiger's he is in cracking form!! Think he needs an older player along side him who can see the runs and create play for him. Jamie O'Hara was the same...you would never have thought he plays for a big club like Spurs....having experienced players along side every match them must spoil them a bit! Maybe players like them can make the step up to the senior England squad before some of the rest of them.

The problem England are having is that quite a few u21's have never been England players before hand and suffer from nerves,as representing your country differs from representing your club.......so i guess yet again we enter the never ending circle of how, where and when, the long-term future needs to come up through the u18's squad onto u21's then finally seniors squad. Jamie O'hara was week in week out the most consistant player we had whilst at millwall on loan, and has taken that onto and into the senior spurs side.Like you said also having the week in week out experianced players alongside them has helped them perform better at club level.Medium terms Fabio has too work closer with the u21's than any manger previously ever has as its normanlly just left to Pearce and such likes. U21's and Seniors need to prepare and train together as much as they possible can instead of acting like two differant teams in the same league. This would allow the u21's to get an understanding of senior level and improve their abilities game play with the added bonus of still being around the more experiance players around them. basically the short answer is in long term bringing the talent up from U18's through the ranks to seniors and short to medium terms its got to be from the u21's and intergrating both u21 and senior squads in training etc; I also have been a longtime beleiver that England managers should look further than just the top flight as there is quite afew talented players within our lower leagues outside the prem... |
