Shaun Wright-Phillips sat out England's training session on Monday night as 'a precaution'.
The Chelsea winger did not train with his team-mates at Wembley ahead of Wednesday's friendly with Switzerland.
The problem has not been disclosed, although the Football Association have confirmed that it is not a serious injury.
An FA spokesman said: "Shaun Wright-Phillips did not train at Wembley tonight.
"He was rested as a precaution and will be assessed tomorrow, but the problem is not thought to be serious."
Wright-Phillips played 90 minutes for Chelsea in the Premier League on Saturday in a 1-1 draw with Portsmouth.
He will be hoping to be fit to figure in Fabio Capello's first game as coach and appears to be vying with David Bentley for the right-wing role.
