Default Was Capello Right To Drop Becks?

Do you reckon Capello was right to drop Becks? Personally I reckon he was as he is not match fit and you can't just pick someone because it will be the 100th time they have been capped. There is no room for sentiment in football these days . If Capello played him and we lost then the manager would get crucified by the media for picking Beckham when he wasnt match fit. Yet he gets crucified by the media when he doesn't pick him. Welcome to England Capello!!!

This should be a non-question. The first thought when picking your squad should be to see whom is available. And injured players do not come into the equation.

Unless the player is named David Beckham apparently.

So, was Cappello right in not selecting Becks? Of course. The question that we should really be asking is "Why the hell are people criticising or questioning the situation?"

I think it was a bit harsh to drop Beckham on his 100th cap. I mean it's only a friendly, but at the same time you have to look at it and say he will probably get a chance later when he is fit anyways.

Who said he was unfit,he has just done six rigous weeks of training with Arsenal.........and even Wenger said he was fit,It was a major topical point due to the Cappello v Beckham row when at Mardrid.

I agree that Cappa has to do what he thinks is right and after all its a friendly and he wants to see fresh talent going by his first provisional squad selection.Cappa knows what Becks can do and if selected he would of been obliged then to play Becks for his 100th cap,but i can see he is using this game looking further than Becks and for the future of Englands proformances and qualifications.......so yeah i agree in his omittance and like said no-doubt his 100th will come when the time is right.

It's only a friendly give some of these younger lads a chance to make a name for them selves. Beckham im sure will get his 100th cap in the future.

so far it looks like the dropping of becks has been justified, and the new boss has the backing of England fans for his decission...
