Signings
Millwall manager Kenny Jackett has been forced into the signing of two midfielders before the League one trip to Oldham Athletic,with midfield options decimated through injuries to Alan Dunne,Dave Brammer and Adrian Forbes along with the suspension of fellow midfielder Marc Laird.Kenny has successfully brought in local born lad Jem Karacan from Premiership side Reading on an emergancy loan deal,who jumped at the possibilty to wear the Millwall shirt of his birth place local club.Jem told the official club site that he jumped at this chance after getting the call from Kenny Jackett,and can not wait to run out and play at the club where his uncle and cousins are life-long fans and season ticket holders,along with some close life-long mates.Born in Catford Jem Karacan has been very much a fringe player under Steve Coppell at the Majestic Stadium.
Signing no2 is Justin Cochrane who was on a short trial from Yeovil Town,having impressed Jackett and his coaching staff Justin was offered a short-term contract at the club with a view to make it a permant fixed contract at the end of the season.Cochrane who played for Millwall reserves last week against Watford can already boost of scoring his first goal for the Lions after scoring in the game against Watford.
PFA Award
Young Arsenal loanee Jay Simpson who has been a revelation since joining the Lions on loan was voted PFA Fans player of the month this week for the month of February.Its the second time this season young Simpson has won the award after winning it for the first time back in November 2007.
The award is voted by us the fans and all monthly divisional winners are then automatically put forward as nominees to win the PFA Fans player of the season,voted by us ordinary fans.This comes as great news not just for Jay Simpson but for Millwall and his parent club Arsenal,as it shows the ability and talent the youngster has is being reckonised within the whole status of football and that his future is bright inside the game.
Camera,Lights and Action
Other news around the club is that once again t.v cameras were filming at our recent home game against Leyton Orient.With the club being use too production companys attending the ground to film.With the new stadium being the focal point of Skys programme Dreamteam where the club was used as Harchester Utds home ground and Training ground,and certain points of surrounding areas being used for scences in the film Football Factory and afew other films and programmes.
The t.v cameras were in attendace to film the supporters arriving and leaving the ground,aswell as filming some scences involving some of the actors from the highly liked ITV drama The Bill,inside and out during the game.
