Bournemouth enter administration

Bournemouth have confirmed they have entered administration after fears they would be wound up, meaning they will now be docked 10 points under Football League rules.

The penalty parachutes them to the bottom of the League One table, 11 points from safety.

Corporate rescue specialists Begbies Traynor have been appointed to oversee the administration process. The details of the club's situation will come to light during a press conference on Friday.

Chairman Jeff Mostyn revealed that the club were trying to take the step when HM Revenue and Customs presented them with a winding-up petition on Wednesday.

Five members of staff have lost their jobs already at the club, set to face Luton Town - now third-bottom of the table - on Saturday.

Always sad to see clubs go into administration. 11 points from safety now looks like they will be going down

I think at this point in the season they realised it would take something big to get them out of relegation anyway.

If they'd waited to go into administration until the end of the season it would have just gotten them into further trouble.

Obviously never effected the players as they got a excellant 4-1 victory at luton today.

Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp has promised to help save his old club Bournemouth, who are in administration with debts of around £4m

Just been reading this nice little interview with Harry - you can tell he holds Bournemouth really close to his heart and will work hard to help them fight the battle

He hasn't mentioned anything about money being donated - but i'm sure he has gave them a little something to help them

He just mentions that he is going to do his best to try and find a buyer for the club - it's a nice gesture but it could have a downside on Pompey and there chase for Europe

Thoughts?

'em! It's no-one else's fault they went into administration! If it had been any company other than a football club no-one woud give a sh1t, would they? We'd all simply say it was bad management by the board, who spent beyond their income. Income - expenditure = profit or loss. If the former exceeds the latter, you're fine, if the latter exceeds the former, you're
