Bury manager Alan Knill believes the signature of Hereford goalkeeper Wayne Brown is a significant coup for the club.
Brown rejected a new deal with Graham Turner's newly-promoted side and will join the Shakers on July 1.
The 31-year-old was Hereford's player of the year last season and kept 21 clean sheets to help the Bulls to automatic promotion from League Two.
Knill said: "I got a phone call asking me if I would be interested in Wayne Brown and obviously we needed a goalkeeper, the answer was yes definitely.
"I've always liked him, he's a steady keeper and you know what you are getting, his record last season was one of the best in the league with 21 clean sheets, and if he can do the same for us next season, then it will be excellent.
"I think it's a real coup for us. You look through the league and pick the goalkeepers out; Wayne will probably be in the top five."
