How much would they have to spend to replace him? Say, for the sake of argument, with someone like Flamini? I think the rumoured price is about right.

Too much inflated prices in football nowadays and too much publicity for sponsors.......Yes there is some great players and highly skillful ones playing today, but imo none should be sold for more than £3m[and that is with taking price inflation since the days of Trevor Francis] its day-light robbery off the game and true honest paying supporters ![]() It's the high change of money that has turned players from playing for their own pride and love of the game into,Players who no-longer value the meaning of club loyalty, don't show no-passion for the actual game.......The very same player that has just signed a £110,000 per week contract for xxx club, yet 7 days before had just declared his undifining love of the club he's just left, when signing an contract extension for a further 4 years on £100,000 per week...All for the sake of an extra £10,000 per week, that will in most cases get betted or gets spent on booze or both... ![]() Imo transfer prices should be capped, All wages should be capped and only raised every new tax year by a % of the lowest rate increase, just like every other standard job. Sponsors should stop being the main focal view of football, and go back to when the game was about Football first,Sponsors second. When Sponsors where just an emblem or name on a shirt. Regulate Tickets and Turnstile prices as they would if it was a cinema, concert etc. At least that way, fianances of each club would be within reasonable differance brackets of available money. Also Clubs would focus more on the triumphs on the pitch than off,and players may start playing for the pride and love of the game again,as it wouldn't be worth moving clubs for the sake of X-amount of £k per week. With Tickets and Turnstile prices being regulate,The prices would always be within an reasonable inflation %,So 99% of fans can afford going to games again,As the game wouldnt be yearly outpriced for alot of faithfully fans. |

Over in the States the clubs are subject to a salary cap with the money paid coming from a centrally administered budget and only a limited number of exceptions, such as Beckham, being funded by the club's sponsors. A good idea which appears to work well but have a look at my post on salary disparity http://www.footballchatforum.com/sho...=3035#post3035 or the one on our sister site: http://footballchatforums.com/rest-world/10349.htm There'd be the usual uproar about restraint of trade and free market economies but as an idea I think a 'roster' salary cap of, say no more than 40% of turnover, would work in the Premier League.
