Default Mascherano

Quote:
Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez insists he is edging closer to completing the permanent signing of Javier Mascherano despite fresh reports linking the midfielder with a move elsewhere.

Mascherano had expected his move to be wrapped up by the end of last week but with the situation still ongoing, Spanish daily Marca now claims the Argentine has been offered to Barcelona.

Benitez said on Thursday: "We are closer than we were one week ago but I don't know how close."

The 23-year-old remains on loan at Anfield from West Ham, although he is effectively owned by the sports investment group MSI.
Liverpool have no rights over Mascherano and if Barca' or anyone else meets MSI's asking price he'll be off! Oh, and West Ham will get absolutely nothing from the deal!

Can anyone translate?
Quote:

He was never theirs to get rid of! MSI 'own' him and decided they'd make more money by loaning him to Liverpool. It's just like you hiring a car for from a monday to a Friday and at the end of the week you give it back and the owner then leases it to someone else at a higher price for the weekend. It reamins his property and he can do with it what he pleases. MSI!

Javier Mascherano has revealed he is close to finally making his move to Liverpool permanent.

The Reds have been locked in talks with the Argentine for the last few months as they look to secure his future.

Mascherano is currently on loan at Anfield until the end of the season after joining the Reds in the 2007 January transfer window.

The Argentina international has been a revelation at Anfield since his arrival after an ill-fated spell at West Ham.

Mascherano is hopeful he will put pen-to-paper on a contract in the next few days to end speculation over his future.

"We are really close," Mascherano told the club's official website.

"Maybe this week or next week we will be able to say everything's finished. We can't say it just yet but hopefully in a few days everything will be okay.

"There are no problems with the fee or with the contract, it's just getting the papers finished.

"I have always said I want to stay here and so it hasn't been a difficult time for me. I have wanted it to be finished because I have my family behind me and I want to know what my future is going to be. I am calm and relaxed because I know that everything is almost over.

"I am very happy that in the next week I will be able to say I have signed for Liverpool. It will be the best moment of my career to be able to say I will be playing my football with Liverpool."

Mascherano also outlined the importance of the club finishing fourth and qualifying for next season's UEFA Champions League.

The Reds currently sit in fifth spot, three points behind local rivals Everton in the battle to finish fourth, and Mascherano insists they must keep up their pursuit of finishing in a Champions League berth by beating Bolton this weekend.

"We have to finish in the top four because we want to be playing in the Champions League next season," added Mascherano.

"We have to win the games we have coming up before we go to Milan and so it's not difficult to stay focused at all.

"We had a good win against Middlesbrough on Saturday and now we have to go and try to win at Bolton. We beat them easily at Anfield earlier in the season but we know it's going to be harder this weekend because they're a difficult side to play on their own pitch."
"Mascherano is currently on loan at Anfield" From whom? Not West Ham! From MSI his 'owners'!

I'm going to stick my neck out here and say that I don't think this will be resolved until the Gillett, Hics, DIC matter is resolved. Why would Gillett & Hicks each pay out £8.5m when the club could be sold to DIC in the next few weeks for the same price it it now?

Default

He should think about moving to a club where there winning the league each season

Barca would be a good move for him - can just sit infront of the defenders and take it easy with the La Liga pace

Then again there is a nice little place in Aston

Default Sorry Kate, you did misinterpret the FA's stance.

There's nothing illegal about a third party 'owning' a player and the FA merely reiterated the current rules that state that all transfers should be transparent.

The list of players 'owned' by third parties at one time or another reads like a who's who of football, just look at these players who weren't 'owned' by Leeds:

Dacourt
Duberry
Fowler
Hassellbaink
Mills
Robinson*
Alan Smith*
Viduka
Woodgate

*these two came through the youth set up but were 'mortgaged' and leased back to United who didn't receive a penny when they were sold! And who was behind the leaseback arrangement? Ray Ranson the new owner of Coventry!!

Default could be last for a while

Mascherano proposed permant deal could be Liverpools last for a while i think.Especially with the way things have turned all messy at Anfield, and if the situation doesn't get sorted one way or another i may be speaking incorrectly, but it could be totally out of Liverpools hands to when they can buy or sell again.

With the in-house power struggle going on the FA may just step in themselves and inforce a temporary embargo until the matters arising are settled and finalised..

It's outwith The FA's powers to interfere with club politics and they've no grounds to impose an embargo as, so far, they've done nothing wrong. Embargos are usually imposed only when a club is in DIRE financial straits or owe money on earlier transfers, so that's not going to happen.

I know embargos are usually imposed onto financially poor clubs IE: clubs who have failed to pay a transfer debt or gone into adminastration,I didnt quite know that a power struggle like Liverpools one and could (just Could) course the club to have temperory financial troubles by both owners refusing to part with funding cash,if they continue getting petty couldnt be stepped into by the FA........

Stand corrected by you again m8
