Manchester United have been handed a £25,000 fine by the Football Association after seven of their players were booked in Saturday's draw with Tottenham.

United grabbed a late point at White Hart Lane as Carlos Tevez pounced in injury-time to cancel out Dimitar Berbatov's first-half strike.

The Red Devils, though, were also hit by the automatic fine which is imposed by the FA when a team picks up six or more yellow cards in a match.

However, United will not face disciplinary action after a number of their players - including Rio Ferdinand - remonstrated with the assistant referee following Berbatov's opener.

Ferdinand frustration

Ferdinand has defended his actions and claims Jermaine Jenas handled the ball in the build up to Tottenham's goal.

"I thought they were fortunate with their goal. It was handball and how the linesman didn't see it I will never know," Ferdinand told the Manchester Evening News.

"I was behind it and I could see it and I don't know how the linesman didn't. That's why I was remonstrating with him.

"I thought he handled it. Owen (Hargreaves) would have cleaned up if he hadn't hit the ball with his hand and then it led to the cross and the goal."

Never-say-die

United's draw allowed title rivals Arsenal to move two points clear at the top of the table, but Ferdinand believes that the Old Trafford outfit's 'never-say-die' spirit will prove crucial in the race for the Premier League crown.

"The only positive was that Chelsea drew and didn't get anywhere nearer to us," Ferdinand added.

We'd like to be top of the table but we are still in a good position to strike.

"I think it was a point gained at White Hart Lane if you look at it and the way the game panned out.

"We are a never-say-die team and you never know what will happen. We had to show grit and determination. You need that spirit if you want to win things."

Utd couldnt escape the fine,but since when do any Utd player get investigated for man-handling and over aggressive body language to any ref or assistant ?????????????????????????......................... ..urm never!
I like the view of Ferndy off 'never say die'attitude it could well backfire on the Fergie boys as with the quality Utd can play at complaciant of mind can soon filter in which will end up costing them the title to Arsenal who imo are still just cruising at the mo.

I reckon it will be close well i hope so anyway as its boring when one team runs away with it. At the moment its all good and i think its between arsenal and man u. I know chelsea are only a few points behind but i cant really see them winning it

You could be right about Chelsea but i reckon they still will have a big say where the title goes as they are currantly equallling their match form with the same match form from their first season with Mourinho,so do think they will be there come end of season.
Will be a very close three club title challenge win imo.
