MEXICO CITY (AP) - Ismael Iniguez scored with three minutes left for Pumas to beat Monterrey 2-1 and end a three-game losing streak in the fourth round of the Mexican Clausura on Sunday.
Argentine striker Ignacio Scocco scored in the 22nd minute for Pumas, Chilean Humberto Suazo equalized on a cross by Robert De Pinho in the 36th.
"We managed to hang on, to have a good position and find a goal at the last minute," Scocco said. "We never put our arms down, we kept on fighting. This was a great time to get our first three points of the season."
After three draws, Monterrey lost for the first time this season in a game marking the return of Argentine coach Ricardo Lavolpe to Mexico City, where he lived for four years while coaching Mexico to the 2006 World Cup in Germany.
On Saturday, Chivas defeated Atlas 2-0 in the Guadalajara derby to remain undefeated and on top in the overall standings, while defending champion Atlante secured a 2-0 victory over Morelia.
