Ferrari were the early leaders as this week’s Formula One test got underway in Bahrain on Monday. With the majority of squads choosing to attend last weekend’s three-day session at Barcelona’s Circuit de Catalunya, Toyota were the only other team in action at the Sakhir track.
Kimi Raikkonen clocked the fastest time of 1m 32.079 with the Italian team’s tester Luca Badoer over a second behind. Raikkonen and Badoer both began a busy technical programme, paying particular attention to the F2008’s set-up and electronics.
Third-placed Timo Glock was the quickest Toyota driver as he carried out mechanical set-up changes. Glock, who completed 72 laps, was joined by the team’s tester Kamui Kobayashi, who enjoyed his first taste of the Japanese squad’s new TF108 and finished in fourth.
Both Ferrari and Toyota will continue to test at the Bahrain track on Tuesday.
Unofficial Monday times from Bahrain:

2. Luca Badoer, Ferrari, 1:33.323
3. Timo Glock, Toyota, 1:33.418
