Kevin Keegan has urged Newcastle Uniteds owners to start contract talks with Michael Owen to prevent him being tempted away by a better offer.
Owens currant deal expires at the end of next season but Keegan beleives it is essential to secure his services in the longer term.Keegan said"We should be talking to Michael now,not next week.He is going to be wanted by other clubs."
Talking with regards to Newcastles league status Keegan still fears that Newcastle could be relegated despite recording their first win since Keegans arrival. This victory stopped an winless run that goes right back 13 games and to the date 15th December.
Speaking after the 2-0 victory over Fulham Kevin Keegan insists there is still work to be done and said"It doesn't mean we're still not in danger but it takes the pressure off after the players attitudes and my ability were questioned."
Really only toon fans can answer this truthfully, but imo with the drop zone so hotly contested this season,i dont think the expectations and pressure of the whole club and players has decreased with this win.Until Newcastle are 100% completly mathmatically safe the players pressure will still be of high intense.
