Default Here's the story why Keegan has left.

Last Friday Wise came to Keegan with Bastien Schweinstiger apparently signing, Keegan was happy with that, as he sanctioned the selling of Milner.
Then apparently Wise came back saying that he hadn't actually signed him, it had fallen through due Jiminez's interference. Keegan was fuming but was told there was still many targets in sights for the end of the window.

Keegan went to Arsenal not happy.

Monday morning Wise, Jiminez and Keegan meet again. Keegan was waiting for them to say such and such is signing. BUT NO.

It was a list of most of the key players of the squad with price tags next to them. Apparently Shay Given had a 10 million price tag and also Owen was on the list. Not only that Xisco et al were on the signing on list, Keegan said he didn't want any of them.

Keegan was furious and went mental. Wise said well its either you put up with what we are doing or you're "sacked". Keegan said well I'm sacked then and stormed off to Manchester.

Keegan didn't have any contact with Newcastle for awhile until he saw the statement, he then went to the LMA and told his side of the story.

Yesterday Derek Llmabas(sp?) went down to try and bring Keegan back but it failed and they instead sorted out compensation etc for Keegan leaving.

From Keegan's daughters other half.

Newcastle target Chelsea legend Zola as man to follow Keegan

By Bob Cass and Daniel King Last updated at 10:35 PM on 06th September 2008

Former Chelsea star Gianfranco Zola and Spanish coaches Jose Antonio Camacho and Marcelino Toral have emerged as early front runners for the Newcastle manager's job as the club last night launched a stinging attack on former boss Kevin Keegan.

Zola, who was yesterday interviewed for the vacant position at West Ham, is regarded by the Newcastle hierarchy as the kind of figure whose appointment might quell the fans' uproar at Keegan's departure.

The current manager of Italy's Under-21 team has maintained good relations with Dennis Wise, his former team-mate at Stamford Bridge and now Newcastle's executive director (football).

The relationship with Wise, who is in charge of recruiting players, is the key to any new appointment after Keegan resigned last week amid claims he knew nothing about the club's new signings and was furious that Michael Owen had been made available for sale along with the entire first-team squad.

But Keegan's contention that he could not continue in the job because 'a manager must have the right to manage and clubs should not impose upon any manager any player that he does not want' was strongly rebutted by Newcastle.

A club statement said: 'It is a fact that Kevin Keegan, on appointment on January 16, 2008, agreed to report to a director of football and to the board.

'It is a fact that Kevin Keegan worked within that structure from January 16, 2008, until his resignation. It is a fact that Kevin Keegan, as manager, had specific duties in that he was responsible for the training, coaching, selection and motivation of the team.

'It is a fact that Kevin Keegan was allowed to manage his specific duties without any interference from any board member. It is a fact that Kevin Keegan agreed only to deal with the media in relation to club matters relating to the team and not to communicate with the media in relation to the acquisition or disposal of players.'

The unequivocal nature of the statement indicates that the club will defend vigorously any attempt by Keegan to sue for constructive dismissal and will pursue him for the
