Alan Shearer's achievements in football are well known and respected. It is easy to see why so many people want to see his record formally recognised. This is underlined by the hundreds of people who have signed the e-petition on the No 10 website calling for him to be granted a knighthood. Your support has been carefully noted.

447 people have signed up (so far) and the response from No.10 isn't at all negative so who knows? Maybe, just maybe he'll get one?!

Does anyone have one I can sign against him getting one?

I just can't allow it. He does not have a birth certificate.

Rachel, why not start one? It's really simple! Just go to http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/ and put whatever you want, "we the undersigned appeal to the prime minister on behalf of the people of Tyne and Wear to resist any attempts by the Geordie Nation to have their balding former player Alan Shearer knighted." or something like that!
