But his comeback has been put back several times because of a series of minor injuries problems.

"Ironically my ankle has been OK for the last couple of months," added Neville.

"I've just picked up little knocks here and there that have lasted a couple of weeks or so; they can really set you back when you've been out for so long.

"But I'm doing the best I can to get fit and I won't put a timescale on my return."

I bet Fergie's wishing he'd gone in for Alan Hutton when he had the chance!

Is that what he has left on his contract? I know from personal experience that it gets harder and harder to recover from even minor knocks as you get older and because your body compensates for the injured part it puts undue strain on other parts of your body which in turn become prone to injury.

I can't see it myself. I think he'll be like Giggs and be a one club man, and probably take up a coaching role at Old Trafford when he does retire.
