Colombian international Jairo Castillo arrived in Montevideo on Monday, and signed a six-month contract with Uruguayan champions Defensor Sporting.
Castillo, who is 30 years old, is an experienced striker who played for AEL Limmasol of Cyprus last season, and will be an important reinforcement for Defensor Sporting.
The former Colombian international has played for a number of top clubs in Colombia and around the world, including America de Cali, Velez Sarsfield, and Independiente.
The highly-rated striker will join the Uruguayan champions on a six-month deal as the replacement of Carlos Maria Morales, who joined Defensor's city rivals Danubio.
Defensor will not compete in the Copa Libertadores this year, but are expected to be candidates to fight for the Uruguayan championship this season, after having been reinforced with lots of quality.
