Default Mexican Roundup, Feb. 24

MEXICO CITY (AP) - Argentine striker Matias Vuoso scored the only goal and Santos sent America to its third straight loss in the seventh round of Mexican Clausura soccer on Sunday.

Vuoso, who played for the Eagles two tournaments ago, scored in the 45th minute for Santos, which had not won at Azteca Stadium since Feb. 2, 2003.

After the Eagles' last loss, Argentine coach Daniel Brailovsky was fired and his place was taken by countryman Ruben Omar Romano, who started on a good note with a Copa Libertadores win against Universidad Catolica last Wednesday.

Elsewhere, Colombian striker Hugo Rodallega scored twice as Necaxa upset Pumas 3-0.

Rodallega opened the scoring in the fourth minute with a penalty kick and posted his second in the 53rd. Angel Reyna, in the 41st, also scored for the Thunder, who won their first road game of the season.

On Saturday, Chivas erased a two-goal deficit to draw San Luis 2-2 and remain atop of the Clausura standings.

Guadalajara has 14 points after seven matches while Toluca, headed by former Argentina coach Jose Pekerman, has 13 after a 3-2 win over Veracruz on Friday.

In other matches, it was Cruz Azul 4, Pachuca 1; Jaguars 2, Tecos 0; Puebla 4, Morelia 0; and Monterrey 1, Atlas 1.
