The Blues have paid an initial fee of just £3.87m for the Zimbabwe international after the Premier League ruled that enough paperwork on the deal had been done on deadline day to allow it to go through.

Sven-Goran Eriksson said of the deal: “I am delighted that we have signed such a quality player, and I am looking forward to working with him straight away.”
