KEVIN Keegan will wait until next week before making a decision about signing Senegal captain Lamine Diatta.

The 32-year-old has been training with the Magpies this week having been released by Turkish club Besiktas.

And, speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of Saturday's clash with Blackburn, Keegan said: "We just had an opportunity for four days to look at him.

"He's the captain of Senegal, and is just back from the African Nations Cup.

"Two of our players (Habib Beye and Abdoulaye Faye) know him. We will have a look and make our mind up by Tuesday. That is what I have told him."

I never heard of this Diatta. Can't be worse than what we got surely. I would expect us to give him a short term deal.

bout time keegan gets looking at some players

I'm sure Keegan has been looking at some players for quite awhile hasn't been able to make a move for anything as yet (unless they are unattached) but i would expect Keegan to have a very big wish list from players hes been watching
