Default McCarthy ' should of done better'

Watford wreaked revenge for the FA Cup defeat last Saturday with a 3-0 over Wolves this evening.

The result halted the Molineux men's mini-revival and left them in 11th place in the table.

But boss Mick McCarthy insisted that he still saw his side as play-off contenders and pledged to continue with the battle. The club is still only two points off sixth place.

Wolves got their second visit to Watford in a eight days off to a bad start in by conceding a goal in the opening minute.

They went on to dominate the first period but two more goals for the home side in the second half gave Watford their first win at Vicarage Road in eight league matches.

"We were the better side in the first half and put under them under pressure, but ultimately we conceded two poor goals and that's all that counts," said Mick.

"It was disappointing to concede so early in the game but for me it was the nature of the first goal that was particularly disappointing.

"We were aware of Bromby's threat from throw-ins and we should have dealt with it better.

"We competed until they scored the second goal. We performed poorly after that.

"We've done well over last three games but people will forget that quickly.

"We definitely see ourselves as a top six side. We've got 16 games left to go and we've got to win as many as possible.

"It will be difficult this week with players away on international duty, and not returning until Thursday, but now got to prepare for Stoke."

I went to the game, dear o dear where do i start. We got off to the worst possible start there was and D Ward should of f**ked that ball off instead of letting it bounce over his head. Apart from that goal and a shot after that imo Watford didn't trouble us. We had most possession but did nothing with it i don't actually remember there keeper making a good save only a tame effort from E banks which was basic stuff for a keeper. Second half i feared every time they attacked us as we was non existent in defending yesterday.

Foley had the worst game ive ever saw him have, he couldn't trap a bag of coal. Even Hennessey's kicking at times was terrible which is very unlike him. The only people i thought had a decent game was Rob Edwards, Karl Henry and Matt Jarvis.

To be honest too many managers are sacked to early,i mean what is the point of signing a manger to a three year contract or whatever length it is,then booting him 6mths down the line.......there's no consistancy nowadays, and its not like wolves are struggling with relegation, but may miss out on promotion...........Micks a good manager and if wolves gave him 100% support and time im sure the voice of discontent will soon change.

sorry lions he's out of his depth, clueless infact, no plan b, no defensive know how, this despite him being a centre-half in his playing days, things will get worse before they start to get better at molineux
