George Elokobi is hoping to make his Wolves debut against Stoke tomorrow (KO 3pm, tickets still available).
The 22-year-old defender finally got to train with the full squad yesterday, a week after making his move from Colchester to Wolves.
Boss Mick McCarthy said he was an instant hit with his new team mates.
"George impressed the lads," said the boss.
"He's a powerful player and he's going to be pushing for a place.
"When he came here for talks I was impressed by his personality and the way he expressed himself about what he wants to achieve.
"Not everyone his age would have the confidence to do that. He is a quietly determined young man."
Wolves continue to be without Neill Collins (ankle) and Stephen Ward (knee).
Darron Gibson has been given a few days leave for personal reasons and Seyi Olofinjana - back from African Cup of Nations duty - will not be back at work until Monday.
Mick adds: "I've spoken to Seyi and he's fine but he's played a lot of football over the past two seasons and he's grateful for a couple of days off.
"He's coming back to competition now we've signed Dave Edwards but he'll relish that."
