We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to allow girls to play football in mixed teams after the age of 11. Girls should be able to continue in mixed football teams and not be forced to move to all girl teams at the age of 11.
No way Jose! There may be a few mingers who can handle playing with boys but the majority should play in their own girls team and not try to compete with physically stronger lads. My 15 year old son and 13 year old daughter both play and she's hard as nails in her own girls team but I'd never put her into an U13 boys game, she'd get destroyed by even the worst boys team - skill doesn't come into it, it's about the physical aspects of the game.

Agreed, I dont mind girls playing football at all, but there is no way they would have the pace or the strength to keep up, she needs to do her homework.

Of course females compete in the game differently, but that does not mean 11 should be the cut-off point at which mixed teams should be banned.

I played in a mixed team in Primary school and quite resented the fact we were banned from even doing football in PE at secondary level.

The majority of kids in Y7, Y8, even Y9 secondary school are still physically similar and girls would still have a decent chance playing up against lads.

Theres a girl at my school she brings a football to school every day i think she is in year 7 and she's there at dinner playing with the boys taking all the boys on. It's funny to watch the boys get nutmegged by a girl

I'm all for girls playing football, my own 13 year old does, but the majority of girls are unable to compete with boys their own age once the lads hit puberty. My daughter has played since Under 8, in a mixed team until they step up from mini-soccer to 11-a-side, but there's no way she could compete against lads her own age.

I wouldn't put an adult female player, any player, against my 15 year old son, it would be a complete mis-match and she'd, guaranteed, end up injured. I don't care if she's an England player, physically women can't compete with even 15 year old boys. Skills wise they can be every bit as good, look at fat Ronaldo's ex-wife, but they just don't have the speed and power to do themselves justice when playing against their male counterparts.

Which age is between 10 and 17 for boys... completely banning girls from mixed football after the age of 11 does not allow any flexibility for this at all.

I also think you underestimate women's strength... after reading your post I feel like I am going to snap in half. "roll"

Anyway, I agree completely about the mismatch between adults but this is 11 year olds we are talking about.

Just slightly off topic, but the men could learn a lot from the way that women play football

So at what age would you put the cut-off point? 12? 17? I'm sorry but there's no way I'd allow any, and I mean ANY, girl of the same age as my son to play against him since the mini-soccer age groups. Ok, he is a particularly physical little B but the point is while girls mature both physically and mentally sooner than boys, as soon as the testosterone kicks in the lads, especially the less skillful ones, become too physical for girls to compete equally. Girls should play, and enjoy, girls football, not try to compare or compete with their more physical, but not necessarily more skillful, male counterparts.
